How would you interpret the short story "Things," by D.H. Lawrence? I find this story about an idealistic couple who are trying to find happiness through travelling and religion interesting. Lawrence describes the frustration of this couple really well by comparing with vines that are seeking something to clutch. Ironically, Nin’s love of Lawrence spurred her to declare she would “go another [way], the woman’s way” in her writing at the conclusion of an iconic discussion with Miller and Durrell in (Diary 2 ).
